Firedamp is set in the 1930's.  For teachers using this site or planning to read the play with their students, there are a number of connections to the social studies as well as the language arts curriculum.  A  detailed document outlining the outcomes covered and providing some suggestions for incorporating the play into the classroom can be accessed here:
